Job summary

HR GO Recruitment in Dover is seeking an experienced Customs Clearance Clerk for a permanent role. You will support end-to-end clearance activity, handling customs documentation and rolling day/night shifts to ensure on-time movement of freight through Dover.

The role requires proven customs clearance experience, strong compliance knowledge, and meticulous attention to detail to maintain accurate records. You will liaise with hauliers and customers to resolve queries and keep goods moving

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Customs Clearance/Customs Admin role (import/export).
• Strong understanding of customs processes and compliance requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and confidence working with documentation and systems.
• Clear communicator with a calm, solutions-focused approach under pressure.
• Able to work a rolling rota including 12-hour day/night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Produce and check Customs and supporting documentation to ensure compliant, on-time clearance.
• Ensure all entries are completed accurately in Customs software and internal systems.
• Provide responsive support to internal teams, customers and authorities, resolving queries efficiently.
• Work closely with hauliers, suppliers and external stakeholders to keep freight moving.
• Monitor live shipment activity and take ownership of exceptions to minimise disruption.
• Maintain strong knowledge of current Customs procedures and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with the wider team to deliver a seamless end-to-end clearance process.
