Customs and VAT Accountant /Leeds - Hybrid / £40,000 - £55,000 DOE with Benefits

Marks Sattin are delighted to be collaborating with a Distribution business in Leeds who are looking to expand their Finance Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and constantly changing environment within a fantastic business.

The ideal candidate will come from a background in customs compliance and VAT.

The Role:

They are looking for someone who will be managing VAT and customs matters, ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws, and assisting in the development of strategic solutions while communicating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders such as supply chain, logistics, finance, and legal.

Day to Day:

  1. Collaborate with internal stakeholders on customs and VAT matters.
  2. Assist with maintenance and improvement of internal customs and VAT procedures.
  3. Assist in the preparation and submission of VAT returns, customs declarations, and other related documentation.
  4. Review customs and VAT procedures to ensure compliance with current legislation.
  5. Monitor customs and VAT law changes and assess their impact on business operations, advising on necessary adjustments.
  6. Provide support in the development and implementation of customs strategies and VAT for operating in multiple jurisdictions.
  7. Liaise with customs authorities and other relevant external stakeholders.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
  1. Experience liaising with stakeholders and having strong communication skills.
  2. Knowledge of customs law & UK VAT regulations.
  3. Be qualified or studying towards CTA / ACA / ACCA.
  4. Minimum 3 years of experience.
