Job summary

Bupa Place, Salford Quays, is recruiting a Customer Underwriting Advisor on a permanent full-time basis (37.5 hours per week, 8am–6pm, Monday to Friday). The role is office-based with potential hybrid working options after probation.

You will support customers at important healthcare moments, assess eligibility for claims, and explain underwriting decisions with professionalism and empathy, and you will liaise with brokers and healthcare professionals to ensure fair outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy contact centre or customer-service environment.
• Excellent telephone manner with active listening and questioning skills.
• Ability to handle challenging conversations professionally and with empathy.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyse information to make decisions.
• Good written and verbal communication, including handling confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers wishing to claim during early membership stages, guiding them through the process.
• Review medical questionnaires, underwriting forms and reports to assess eligibility.
• Liaise with healthcare professionals to obtain relevant medical information.
• Clearly communicate underwriting decisions to customers empathetically and clearly.
• Ensure cases and documentation are accurately managed within service levels.
• Deliver high-quality customer service in a fast-paced contact centre.
