BMW Group UK – Farnborough is offering a placement year in the Customer, Strategy & ESG team. You will assist with developing and monitoring business strategy, driving customer insights, and communicating strategy across internal and external stakeholders.

You will help track transformation progress, present market insights, and support sustainability initiatives while coordinating with global BMW Group entities and Alphabet UK.

Qualifications

• Undergrad degree in Business Management or similar.
• Basic customer services experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
• Interest in sustainability and sustainable practices.
• Proficiency with IT tools; PowerPoint advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Support Head of Customer Strategy in steering strategy development with senior leadership.
• Track and report progress against transformation targets.
• Produce and present customer insights highlighting pain points and successes in the journey.
• Deliver market insight reports to teams and committees.
• Assist with development and monitoring of Sustainability initiatives.

BMW UK, Financial Services, Farnborough, Customer, Strategy & ESG - Placement Year

The Customer, Strategy & ESG team is responsible for the development and implementation of corporate strategy, customer strategy and Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) activities for BMW Group Financial Services and Alphabet UK.

In this varied and interesting student placement, you’ll be responsible for guiding the on-going development and monitoring of business strategy. You will help drive this through customer and market analysis, presentation of insights and stakeholder communication, meaning you’ll play an integral part in organisational development and the achievement of company objectives. Additionally, you will assist with the communication of strategy and insights, in collaboration with the internal communications team.

What awaits you?

• Support the Head of Customer Strategy in steering the business strategy development process, this involves working with the C-level Management Committee and the various functional leadership across the business.
• Deliver the tracking and reporting of progress against transformation targets, and status of key strategic initiatives.
• Produce and present customer insight reporting, highlighting pain points and customer successes in the customer journey, and guiding change in the relevant business areas.
• Deliver internally and externally sourced market insight reports, presented to teams and committees across the business.
• Supporting with the development, communication and monitoring of Sustainability strategy and initiatives.
• Support all aspects of our Customer Driven Organisation, including our decision-making Customer Committee.
• Ensure continued engagement and alignment with international BMW Group entities, including headquarter function in Munich and virtual attendance at BMW Group global meetings.

What should you bring along?

• Studying for an undergraduate degree in Business Management or similar and in line to achieve a 2:1 or above.
• Basic customer services experience (i.e. retail/hospitality).
• Microsoft Office (incl. PowerPoint) advantageous.
• Quick to pick up IT applications (online tools, project management tools etc.).
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong critical and analytical mindset.
• Attention to detail and intellectual curiosity.
• Able to show an interest in sustainability and sustainable practices.
