Job summary

OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with customers to turn research breakthroughs into production systems. London-based FDEs lead complex end-to-end deployments of frontier models, owning discovery, scope, design, build and rollout with customer teams.

Hybrid work (3 days in office) and relocation assistance are provided; travel up to 50% helps serve strategic clients. You will work with product, research, partnerships, security and GTM teams to measure adoption, drive impact,

Qualifications

• 6+ years of engineering or technical deployment experience with customer-facing work.
• Professional fluency in Spanish and English.
• Experience scoping and delivering complex systems in fast-moving environments.
• Experience building or deploying systems powered by LLMs or generative models.
• Ability to write and review production-grade code across frontend and backend using Python/JavaScript.

Responsibilities

• Own technical delivery across deployments from prototype to production for frontier models.
• Build full-stack systems delivering customer value and enabling learning from deployments.
• Embed with customer teams, understand needs, and drive adoption of deployed solutions.
• Scope work, sequence delivery, and remove blockers early to protect delivery timelines.
• Make trade-offs between scope, speed, and quality; adjust plans as needed.
• Contribute code when needed to unblock progress and improve systems.
• Codify best practices into tools, playbooks, or building blocks for reuse.
• Share field feedback to help Research and Product refine models and roadmap.
