Job summary

Mitie Care & Custody is recruiting nurses and paramedics to provide healthcare to people held in police custody suites. Shifts run 24/7 on fixed day and night rotas, with forensic training provided. You must hold NMC or HCPC registration and pass police vetting.

Key responsibilities include delivering detainee healthcare, collaborating with police, and serving across base custody suites and regional areas. Prior experience in a similar setting is advantageous.

Qualifications

• NMC registration required for nurses or HCPC registration for paramedics.
• 2 years post-qualification patient-facing experience in relevant settings (e.g. A&E, acute medicine or prison healthcare).
• Right to work in the UK with British passport or ILR and 3 years residency; police vetting may be required.

The work covers the base custody suite, other suites across a designated region and the wider force area. Shifts run 24/7 on fixed day and night rotas, and forensic training is given, so prior forensic experience is not required. Applicants need to hold NMC or HCPC registration and pass police vetting.

Qualifications

• RN, RGN or RMN with dual registration, 2 years post qualification (Band 5 minimum)
• Paramedic qualification, 2 years post qualification

Registration & licences

• NMC registration for nurses
• HCPC registration for paramedics

Experience

• 2 years post-qualification patient-facing experience in a relevant field, e.g. A&E, acute medicine, walk-in centres, substance misuse, prison healthcare or ambulance service

Checks & eligibility

• Driving licence
• Right to work in the UK, with a British passport or ILR and 3 years' UK residence with no gap abroad over 3 months
• Police vetting
