Care & Custody, a Mitie company, is recruiting nurses or paramedics to deliver healthcare to detainees in police custody suites across a designated region and the wider force area. The role includes police collaboration, managing vulnerable individuals, and developing forensic clinical skills, with a fixed day and night rota and 24/7 cover.

We require valid professional registration (NMC or HCPC) and police vetting, with 2 years post-qualification experience for nurses or paramedics.

The work means supporting vulnerable people in the criminal justice system alongside police, with forensic clinical skills taught on the job. Posts run 24/7 on fixed rota shifts, offered full time or part time, with night shifts required even for part-time staff. Forensic experience is not needed, but professional registration and police vetting are required.

What’s required

Qualifications

• RN, RGN or RMN with dual registration, with 2 years post qualification (Band 5 minimum)
• Paramedic qualification with 2 years post qualification

Registration & licences

• NMC registration for nurses
• HCPC registration for paramedics

Experience

• At least 2 years post-qualification experience in a patient-facing role in a relevant field, such as general practice, A&E, emergency medicine, acute medicine, walk-in centres, substance misuse, prison healthcare or…

Checks & eligibility

• Right to work in the UK: British passport or ILR, or lived in the UK for 3 years with no absence abroad over 3 months
• Driving licence (required)
