Job summary

Care & Custody - A Mitie Company is seeking a qualified nurse or paramedic to support detainees within Police Custody Suites and across the designated region. Full training will be provided and progression opportunities exist within a dynamic forensic healthcare environment.

You will work a 4-on/4-off shift pattern (6:45–19:00 and 18:45–07:00) in a rolling rota with 24/7 service coverage, delivering high-quality care while adhering to professional registration requirements.

Qualifications

• NMC/HCPC registration and UK registration required.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience in a patient-facing role.
• Driving licence required.
• Right to work in the UK with UK passport or ILR and no gaps out of country more than 3 months.
• Police Vetting will be required.

Responsibilities

• Support detainees with high-quality healthcare within custody suites.

Job responsibilities

• Salary £41,500 per year
• £1000 bonus when completed 12 months service.
• Full time - this entails fixed shift working in a team rota pattern of 4 shifts on and 4 days off: 06:45 to 19:00 for 2-day shifts followed by 2-night shifts of 18:45 to 07:00, Rolling rota available 2 years in advance.
• Part time - this entails fixed shift working: 06:45 to 19:00 for day shifts and night shifts of 18:45 to 07:00, working in a team rota pattern of 2-day shifts on, 8 days off, 2 nights, 4 days off. Rolling rota available 2 years in advance.
• These patterns are contractually agreed with the customer: whereas there may be opportunities for a part-time or mutually agreed Bank contract, we require all employees to work full shifts, and part-time employees still need to carry out some Night shifts.
• Average estimated overtime £3500 per annum
• NMC/HCPC Registration paid

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Essential: RN, RGN or (RMN with dual registration): 2 years post qualification - Band 5 minimum
• Paramedic 2 years post qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years post qualification experience in a patient-facing role within a relevant field: General Practice, A & E, Emergency Medicine, acute medicine, Walk in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare or Ambulance Service
• Driving Licence (required)
• Must have RTW in UK, Lived in UK British Passport or ILR for 3 years + no gaps out of country more than 3 months
• All candidates will be subject to Police Vetting
