Job summary

Goffs Academy, part of Generations Multi Academy Trust, seeks a Curriculum & Timetable Officer to join from September 2026. You will construct and optimise the whole-school timetable, balancing curriculum needs, staffing and room capacity to maximise teaching hours and resources.

Reporting to SLT, you will manage timetable changes, GCSE/A-Level option blocks, and ensure MIS data integrity across the system, supporting staff and student outcomes in a busy 11-18 environment.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C/4 or above or equivalent.
  • Experience in secondary school administration, data or operations.
  • Experience using MIS in a school context.
  • Analytical, logical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to learn complex scheduling software quickly.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Support construction of the whole-school timetable using scheduling software.
  • Manage in-year timetable adjustments due to staff changes or curriculum updates.
  • Optimise use of classrooms and facilities to minimise disruptions.
  • Assist in creating GCSE and A-Level option blocks and subject allocation.
  • Ensure MIS is populated with curriculum structures, class lists and teacher assignments.
  • Oversee year rollover and setup for a new academic year.
  • Generate reports on class sizes and staff utilisation for SLT.
  • Serve as primary contact for Heads of Department on scheduling queries.
  • Resolve clashes with focus on staff wellbeing and student outcomes.
  • Support Curriculum and Options events across key stages.
  • Provide admin support to SLT with email, calendar and stakeholder comms.

About the Role

Goffs Academy, part of the Generations Multi Academy Trust, isseeking a highly organised and methodical Curriculum & Timetable Officer tojoin the team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play acritical role in the smooth operational running of a vibrant and successful11-18 comprehensive school.

As Curriculum & Timetable Officer, you will support theconstruction, maintenance and optimisation of the school's complex whole-schooltimetable, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to translate theschool's curriculum vision into a workable, efficient schedule for staff andstudents. You will balance curriculum needs, staffing and room capacity,ensuring resources and teaching hours are maximised.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support theannual construction of the whole-school timetable using scheduling software(e.g. Arbor and Timetablr), collaborating closely with the SLT.
  • Manage andimplement in-year timetable adjustments arising from staff changes, studentchoices, or curriculum adjustments.
  • Optimise theuse of classrooms, specialist laboratories and sports facilities to minimiseroom changes and travel time.
  • Assist increating and managing GCSE and A-Level option blocks and subject allocation tomaximise student choice satisfaction.
  • Ensure theschool's Management Information System (MIS) is accurately populated withcurriculum structures, class lists and teacher assignments.
  • Manage theend-of-year rollover and comprehensive setup of the new academic year within the school's data systems.
  • Generatedata reports on class sizes, staff utilisation rates and curriculum deliverycosts for the SLT.
  • Act as theprimary point of contact for Heads of Department on scheduling queries, roomingrequests and timetable constraints.
  • Resolvescheduling clashes logically and empathetically, keeping staff wellbeing andstudent outcomes in mind.
  • Support theorganisation and implementation of key Curriculum and Options events across allkey stages.
  • Provideadministrative support to relevant members of SLT, including managing email,calendar and stakeholder communication.
Requirements
  • Goodstandard of education, including GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above,or equivalent.
  • Provenexperience working within a secondary school administration, data, oroperations role.
  • Substantialexperience using secondary school Management Information Systems (MIS).
  • Exceptionalanalytical, logical and algorithmic problem-solving skills.
  • AdvancedExcel capability (e.g. VLOOKUPs, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, data manipulation).
  • High levelof IT literacy and the ability to learn complex software systems quickly.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict operational deadlines.
  • Meticulousattention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Stronginterpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate andmanage expectations.
  • Resilience,discretion and flexibility when working under pressure in a fast-pacedenvironment.
  • Directexperience constructing a complex school timetable using Arbor and Timetablr orequivalent scheduling software (desirable).
  • Experiencemanaging options processes and academic year rollovers (desirable).
  • Degree orrelevant professional qualification in data management, mathematics,statistics, or ICT (desirable).
