The holder of this position will support the Associate Dean and the Media and Communications curriculum team to ensure seamless and continued learning and teaching delivery. The responsibility of the Curriculum Head is to successfully manage both staff and students and fulfil a teaching responsibility for academic subjects, currently at a level (SCQF L5 – SCQF L10), to a diverse range of students. Key areas include journalism with newsrooms, public relations, professional writing, and traditional/digital media. As a professional member of the management staff of the College, you will be responsible for the preparation of lessons, the teaching of students and the marking and assessment of their work. Responsibility also includes management of verification, quality and performance across all awards. You will lead and motivate a team of lecturers to inspire, develop, and drive excellent academic and employability outcomes for students.
This team within industry-standard podcasting studios, media labs, and newsrooms, deliver a vocationally focused learning experience that prepares students for careers in content creation and the wider media sector. You will build strong relationships with industry professionals, bringing employer expertise into the curriculum and creating valuable work experience opportunities that enhance student employability and career readiness.
To apply for this position, you must have a relevant qualification/degree at SCQF level 9 or equivalent. The successful candidate will have excellent IT skills, effective communication skills, high digital competence and have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively. A track record of industry engagement in education is mandatory. Applicants must hold a TQFE or equivalent (such as a PGDE).
