Job summary

City of Glasgow College invites applications for a Bank Lecturer in Mechanical/Marine Engineering & STEM within the Faculty of Nautical and STEM, to deliver practical and theory-based subjects at SCQF level 5.

The post is fixed term for 12 months; hours as required. A salary of £50,036 per annum pro rata is indicated for those holding TQFE. The college supports blended learning and provides a supportive environment for staff development.

Qualifications

  • HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related subject.
  • Minimum 3 years industrial experience in mechanical/marine engineering.
  • Experience with welding and fabrication is desirable; lathe work experience preferred.

Bank Lecturer in Mechanical/Marine Engineering & STEM

Fixed Term: 12 months

Contract Type: Bank position – hours as required

(Candidates holding TQFE will commence on £50,036 per annum, pro rata)

As Lecturer in Mechanical/Marine Engineering, within the Faculty of Nautical and STEM, you will lead on the delivery of Mechanical/Marine Engineering & STEM practical subjects at SCQF level 5 and some academic subjects where required.

As a professional member of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Nautical and STEM, you will be responsible for accessible, modern, innovative, and fit-for-purpose learning and teaching packages for the practical and theory-based electrical engineering programmes as well supporting individual programme students throughout their learning journey.

To apply for this vacancy, you must have HNC in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering subject with at least 3 years Industrial experience in the service, maintenance mechanical or marine engineering industry. The successful candidate will also have industrial experience of welding and fabrication, and it is desirable to have experience of working on lathe machines as well as relevant previous teaching experience.

You must be self-motivated and reliant and have a desire to teach. You should possess effective interpersonal skills and be able to communicate learning to individuals with a variety of learning styles.
