Job summary

Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 2 CSSD operative to manage decontamination, packing and sterilisation of reusable medical devices. You will handle receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and recording tasks in the CSSD tracking system.

The post requires team contribution, adherence to safety procedures and ongoing training. Shift pattern covers Monday to Friday with weekend/bank holiday coverage as required.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a team.
• Experience of working in sterile services or comparable department.
• Literacy and Numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the cleanliness and correctness of equipment.
• Participate in packing of surgical instruments and theatre packs.
• Learn the safety and operational aspects of department machinery.
• Carry out any other duties deemed reasonable.
• Participate in regular reviews of your training programme.
• Identify problems and report to a supervisor.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
• Carry out daily tests on department machinery.
• Check and safely use the heat-sealing machine.
• Decontaminate, pack and sterilise contaminated items arriving in the department.
