Job summary

Sustainable Infrastructure in North East England is seeking an experienced CSA Senior Cost Consultant to join our Cost & Commercial Management team, supporting the commercial delivery of a major hyperscale data centre programme in the North East.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially oriented professional with a strong post-contract cost management background to work on a complex capital project.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in cost or commercial management on major capital projects.
• Post-contract cost management expertise.
• Experience with GMP procurement, development and negotiation.
• Working knowledge of FIDIC contracts and contract administration.
• Strong cost forecasting, reporting and CVR experience.
• Experience managing valuations and payment processes.

Responsibilities

• Support the Commercial Director in the commercial management of major CSA capital work packages from procurement through to final account.
• Support and, where appropriate, lead GMP development, negotiation and conversion into agreed package values.
• Prepare and review valuations, payment recommendations and change control.
• Contribute to cost reports, forecasts, CVRs and executive-level commercial reporting.
• Support the administration and commercial management of FIDIC contracts.
• Review tender analysis and provide commercial recommendations.
• Identify and manage commercial risks, opportunities and contingency.
• Support the commercial management of enabling works, civils, piling, structural steel, structures and architectural packages.
• Support the preparation and agreement of final accounts with the principal contractor.
• Monitor project costs, variances, commitments and forecasts.
• Provide commercial advice and insight to support project decision-making.
• Develop effective working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders.
• Support and mentor junior commercial team members.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced CSA Senior Cost Consultant to join our Cost & Commercial Management team, supporting the commercial delivery of a major hyperscale data centre programme in the North East.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially experienced professional with a strong post-contract cost management background to work on a major, complex capital project.

The role will focus on the first phase of data centre delivery and associated campus infrastructure, with responsibility for supporting the commercial management of key Civil, Structural and Architectural (CSA) work packages from procurement through to final account.

You will work closely with the site-based commercial leadership team, principal contractors, supply chain partners and wider project stakeholders to ensure strong commercial control and successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Key Experience & Skills

• Significant experience in cost or commercial management on major capital projects.
• Strong post-contract cost management experience.
• Experience with GMP procurement, development and negotiation.
• Working knowledge of FIDIC contracts and contract administration.
• Strong experience in change control, variations and commercial management.
• Experience managing valuations and payment processes.
• Strong cost forecasting, reporting and CVR experience.
• Experience managing and agreeing final accounts.
• Experience across CSA packages, including civils, structures, piling, steel or architectural works.
• Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working in a site-based project environment.
• Experience within data centres, hyperscale, mission-critical, infrastructure or other major capital projects would be highly advantageous.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Professional qualification or chartered status, ideally MRICS/FRICS or equivalent.
• Valid CSCS card.
