Job summary

Worcester City Council is seeking an experienced Crematorium Operative to provide short-term operational support during the remobilisation of Astwood Crematorium. You will operate cremators, perform routine checks, maintain cremation records, and handle remains with dignity.

Qualifications

• Must have relevant experience and be trained as a cremator.
• A sound understanding of crematorium procedures, health and safety requirements and the respectful handling of the deceased and cremated remains is essential.
• Recognised cremator training and recent practical experience are required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor cremators and undertake routine operational checks.
• Maintain accurate cremation records and handle cremated remains.
• Support the safe and orderly running of the crematory and chapel duties as required.
• Receive funeral cortèges and liaise with funeral directors.
• Prepare the chapel between services to ensure timely proceedings.
