Job summary

Shoosmiths LLP in the UK is seeking a Credit Team Leader to support cashflow, lead a six-strong Credit Control team and deputise for the Credit Manager. The role combines technical credit control with people leadership, commercial judgement and accountability for delivery.

You will drive a high-quality debtor management process, maintain controls, and collaborate with Partners, Fee Earners and Business Services to optimise the billing-to-cash cycle.

• Significant credit management experience with complex debt matters.
• Proven line management with performance and development focus.
• Strong coaching, mentoring and change leadership skills.
• Experience leading teams through workload pressures and priorities.
• Excellent communication tailored to audiences at all levels.
• Understanding of financial systems and AR governance.
• High accuracy, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate across departments and drive improvements.
• Knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and legal sector billing cycles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the Credit Control team, providing technical guidance on complex credit matters, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and acting as an escalation point in the Credit Team Leader's absence.
