Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

Coinbase is looking for a highly motivated Credit Risk Analyst to join our Credit Risk team. You will help manage complex credit risks across a global client base, in a dynamic digital asset market environment. Working closely with risk professionals and product teams, your responsibilities will include underwriting counterparties, evaluating asset risks, monitoring and reporting exposures, and contributing to thought leadership to deliver lending solutions through existing and new products. This role will report to the Head of Derivatives Credit Risk, and may be based in London or remotely in the United Kingdom.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Perform diligence and underwriting of clients and counterparties, focused on market makers, banking & payment providers, and trading venues.
  • Recommend internal credit ratings and risk-based limits, and prepare written analysis substantiating your assessment.
  • Conduct continuous surveillance of trading and bank partners, along with periodic portfolio reviews, audits, and capital planning exercises.
  • Analyze asset volatility and liquidity risks on a per-asset and portfolio basis.
  • Provide recurring monitoring of settlements market developments, and portfolio concentrations and clearly communicate trends to leadership.
  • Negotiate industry documentation (e.g. MLAs and SLAs).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders (business development, operations, legal, etc.) and product teams to resolve complex client or product challenges.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and advancements to continuously expand knowledge and expertise.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • Minimum of 1-3 years hands-on credit risk management experience.
  • Prior experiences covering financial institutions or market makers is highly preferred.
  • Interest in and basic understanding of capital markets products and documentation.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical, quantitative and spreadsheet skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization; enjoy operating in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience working with process improvement, capital planning, and/or stress testing.
