Job summary

Wynnstay Group Plc is seeking an organised Credit Controller to join our Finance team in the UK. You will manage customer accounts, chase overdue balances and assess creditworthiness while balancing customer relations with commercial considerations.

The role involves working with Sales and Customer Services to support cash collection, maintain accurate records and improve processes. A proactive communicator with strong attention to detail will thrive.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years' experience in a Credit Control role
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Professional and confident telephone manner
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with customers and colleagues
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team
• Resilience and composure in challenging conversations and situations
• Proficient with finance systems and MS Office applications

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of customer accounts and ownership of debt collection activities
• Ensuring timely collection of outstanding balances to support healthy cash flow
• Chasing overdue accounts via telephone, email and written correspondence
• Reviewing accounts and taking appropriate action to recover debts
• Conducting credit checks and assessing creditworthiness per policy
• Managing customer credit limits and regular account reviews
• Maintaining accurate records of communications and actions
• Collaborating with Sales, Customer Services and Finance to resolve queries
• Negotiating repayment arrangements balancing customer needs and commercial considerations
• Producing aged debt reports and highlighting high-risk accounts
• Supporting Accounts Receivable activities including payment allocation and setup
• Monitoring trends and identifying process improvements in collection and credit management
