Job summary

British Red Cross is seeking a Credit Controller in Paisley. The role is hybrid (home and office) with a pro rata salary of £24,479 to £24,582 per year, for 35 hours a week.

You will chase arrears, perform credit checks, and prepare debtor reports while liaising with the Income Team to ensure accurate ledger entries. Key responsibilities include journals, data gathering from systems, and process improvements.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to write appropriate email communications and responses.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, telephone manner & telephony skills.
• Effective problem-solving skills and use of initiative.
• Ability to work in a pressurised environment.
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy both numeric and written.
• Some experience in a high-volume credit control department.
• Ability to gather information from relevant systems.
• Proven experience in working with a computerised sales ledger.
• Working knowledge of double entry book-keeping. (desirable)
• Knowledge of Agresso financial systems. (desirable)

Responsibilities

• Chasing arrears by telephone & email & reconciling customer accounts.
• Credit checking and investigation.
• Producing and analysing debtor reports.
• Preparation of journals where adjustments are necessary.
• Liaise with Income Team staff and managers.
• Proactively looking for process improvement opportunities, challenge conventional practices & adapts new methods & best practice.
• To provide responses to any queries timeously and efficiently. In particular, to receive, action and resolve enquiries received from the Shared Service’s Support Desk.
