Job summary

Confidential is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join the finance team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The role is office based, Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:00, and involves managing a high-volume accounts receivable function with over 4,500 invoices per month.

You will build relationships with customers, chase overdue payments, and contribute to process improvements within a fast-paced environment. Strong Excel and accounting system proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a Credit Control or Accounts Receivable role.
• Strong knowledge of sales ledger management and debt collection procedures.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills.
• Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume finance environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and finance/accounting systems.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end credit control process and timely collection of debts.
• Proactively chase overdue payments via phone, email, and structured collection processes.
• Build strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Allocate customer payments and prepayments accurately and minimise unallocated cash.
• Reconcile sales ledger balances, customer prepayments and payments on account.
• Upload invoices to online portals and monitor acceptance for payment processing.
• Conduct credit checks on new and existing customers and maintain appropriate credit limits.
• Process and administer authorised credit notes per company procedures.
• Produce weekly reports on aged debt, customer payments, and unallocated cash for cash flow forecasting.
• Manage inter-company invoicing and ensure balances are reconciled and settled timely.
• Support e-commerce accounting activities, including reconciling online remittances and platform costs.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within AR.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and daily AR banking activities.
• Support wider finance team and assist with ad hoc finance duties.
