Job summary

AW Lumb & Co Ltd in Dewsbury is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join our head office team and take ownership of the timely collection of customer debt while protecting strong customer relationships. Hours: 8.30am–5pm, Mon-Fri; Discretionary bonus scheme.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will handle account queries, coordinate with internal colleagues, and ensure payments move smoothly across the business, contributing to healthy ledgers and cash flow.

Responsibilities

• Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers
• Managing and maximising the collection of outstanding debt
• Monitoring customer accounts and reviewing arrears
• Contacting customers by phone, email and letter
• Investigating and resolving account and payment queries
• Working with internal teams to resolve issues quickly
• Processing customer payments and managing the company payment platform
• Opening new customer accounts in line with company procedures
• Liaising with our credit insurer and reviewing credit limits
• Producing reports on cash turn, over‑trading and overall ledger health
• Recommending improvements to our credit control processes
• Reconciling daily trade counter takings and preparing cash for banking at our Dewsbury branch
