Access Garage Doors Ltd in Crawley is seeking a Credit Controller & Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. The role combines debt management, accounts receivable and general finance administration in a busy, growing company.

You will monitor aged debt, process payments, reconcile accounts and support month-end procedures, while maintaining accurate financial records and delivering excellent customer service. Office-based, permanent role. Experience with Xero/Sage and Excel is preferred.

• Experience in a finance role with option to support month-end tasks.
• Strong IT skills and proficiency in accounting software.

Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced and organised Credit Controller & Accounts Assistant to join our team in Crawley. This is a varied role combining credit control, accounts receivable and general finance administration.

You will play an important role in maintaining effective credit control, ensuring customer accounts are kept up to date and providing finance support across the business.

The Role / Responsibilities

• Responsible for credit control and owning debt management
• Monitoring aged debt and following up overdue invoices
• Allocating BACS receipts and maintaining accurate customer account records
• Undertaking customer credit searches and checks
• Setting up and maintaining new customer accounts
• Communicate regularly with customers and work as part of a team
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Reconcile bank accounts and company credit cards
• Support the financial controller with month-end and year-end procedures
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies and customer queries in a timely, accurate and professional way
• Maintain accurate filing systems (digital and physical)
• Provide financial information to management when required
• Support the wider operations team as needed
• Assist with improving financial processes and controls

What We’re Looking For

• Previous credit control and accounts receivable experience
• Confident and professional when discussing outstanding accounts with customers
• Proven experience in a finance role
• Experience of accounting software (e.g. Xero, Sage, QuickBooks)
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Organised and able to manage multiple tasks effectively
• Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload
• Proactive approach to resolving queries and outstanding issues
• Good IT skills, including email and Microsoft Office
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Professional and approachable manner
• Good understanding of sales ledger processes
• Sage 200 experience would be advantageous, although training will be provided
• Confident using Microsoft Excel and accounting systems
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Experience within garage doors, construction, home improvements, wholesale or trade-related industries
