Job summary

Simply Jobsworth is seeking an experienced Credit Controller to join a busy finance team near Shrewsbury. You will manage credit control, support sales and purchase ledgers, and maintain accurate records in Xero.

The role requires proactive, numerate individuals with strong communication, IT skills (Excel, Word, Office 365), and the ability to work to deadlines. A full driving licence and own transport are essential due to rural location.

Responsibilities

Credit Controller

£27,000 - £29,000

Shrewsbury, Shropshire - SY4
Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm
Full-time, Permanent

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join a busy and supportive finance team based near Shrewsbury.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for credit control while also supporting across sales ledger, purchase ledger and wider transactional finance duties. This is a varied position that would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of their workload, building relationships with customers and suppliers, and being part of a hands-on finance team.

Due to the rural location of the office, a full driving licence and access to your own transport will be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the credit control process and proactively chasing outstanding debt
• Liaising with customers by telephone and email to secure payment and resolve account queries
• Managing debtor insurance requirements
• Raising and processing sales ledger invoices
• Processing supplier and purchase invoices
• Inputting purchase invoices onto Xero
• Setting up new customer and supplier accountsi
• Completing supplier payment reconciliations and preparing payment batches
• Investigating and resolving customer and supplier account queries
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
• Supporting the Finance Manager with general accounting and finance duties
• Ensuring work is completed accurately and within required deadlines

About You

We are looking for someone with previous experience within credit control, accounts receivable or a similar transactional finance position.

You will ideally have:

• Previous credit control experience
• Bookkeeping or wider accounts experience
• Confident communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with customers
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Office 365
• Experience using Xero would be advantageous
• Knowledge of CIS would be beneficial
• Strong numeracy and attention to detail
• A proactive and organised approach to work
• The ability to prioritise effectively and work to deadlines
• Confidence working both independently and as part of a team
• Industry and systems training will be provided.
