Job summary

Talbot Underwriting is seeking a Credit Control Team Leader for a 12-month FTC maternity cover. The role oversees the day-to-day management of the Credit Control Team, driving performance and timely premium payments within the Lloyd’s market framework.

You will mentor staff, manage workloads, review objectives, and liaise with brokers, coverholders, lead insurers and internal stakeholders to meet targets and maintain robust processes and controls.

Qualifications

• Experience in Team Management
• Understanding of underwriting operations
• Knowledge of Lloyd’s operational processes and systems
• Working with Process Development Teams and implementation of new business processes
• Previous experience in a Credit Control department desirable
• Understanding of Slips, endorsements and closings
• Knowledge of Lloyd’s market practices preferred

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the day to day management of Credit Control Team
• Escalation point for the Credit Control Team
• Mentor and assist the Team to reduce aged debt and escalating issues; build relationships with back office, Lloyd’s brokers, coverholders, lead insurers and Lloyd’s central market premium processing platform
• Oversee workflow and productivity; ensure targets and objectives are met
• Ensure documented objectives exist and performance reviewed regularly with feedback
• Ensure processes and procedures are version controlled, reviewed regularly and followed
• Monitor and review all premium and unallocated cash postings for accuracy and MI reporting
• Provide daily, weekly and monthly reporting for team metrics
• Produce operational and subject matter guidance for team processes
• Liaise with clients, brokers and Underwriters to achieve timely premium payments
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Delegated Underwriting, Talbot Overseas Offices, Claims, IT and Data Analytics, Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit

How you will create an impact

• Responsible for the day to day management of Credit Control Team
• Escalation point for the Credit Control Team
• To mentor and assist the Team to reduce aged debt, escalated issues, build strong relationships with back-office processing functions including but not limited to Lloyd’s brokers, coverholders, lead insurers and the Lloyd’s central market premium processing platform.
• Responsible for the day to day oversight and workflow management of a team ensuring productivity, targets and objectives met.
• Ensure all team members have documented objectives, regularly review individual and team performance targets, outputs and behaviors providing timely feedback.
• Ensure that all processes and procedures are version control documented, reviewed regularly and consistently adhered to.
• Monitor and review all premium and unallocated cash postings for accuracy and MI reporting.
• Provide daily, weekly and monthly reporting for all required team metrics, as and when required.
• Produce operational and subject matter guidance for all team processes.
• Regularly liaise with external parties including clients, brokers, and Underwriters, and you will need to establish good working relationships accordingly to ensure targets and objectives are achieved in the payment of premium in a timely manner

What you’ll need to succeed

• Experience in Team Management is preferable– resourcing, training and development
• A good understanding of underwriting and underwriting operations
• Knowledge of Lloyd’s operational processes and systems
• Working with Process Development Teams and implementation of new business processes
• Previous experience working within a Credit Control department desirable
• Understanding of Slips, associated endorsements and closings essential
• Knowledge of Lloyd’s market practices preferred
