Credit Control Team Leader

Chelmsford

Permanent (Hybrid)

At QBE, our purpose is to enable a more resilient future.

We are an international insurer and reinsurer with a local presence in 27 countries.

The opportunity

We're hiring for a Credit Control Team Leader on a full-time, permanent basis.

We aim to provide an experience that is both fulfilling and meaningful. Reaching your goals is important, and we're committed to helping you get there. There will be opportunities to expand and enhance your skills and experience by working with other teams and departments, ensuring you stay relevant in your role and industry.

Your new role

As our Credit Control Team Leader, you’ll guide and support a team handling over £3.5 billion in annual premium collections. You’ll ensure targets are met, work runs smoothly, and high standards are maintained.

You’ll lead from the front—helping your team hit service goals, stay efficient, and deliver great results. You’ll keep things compliant, clear, and accurate, especially regarding reporting and management information.

You’ll also bring strong technical know-how in credit control and insurance administration and build solid relationships with colleagues and senior partners across the business.

Main responsibilities:
  • Lead, support, and develop the team to meet business needs and goals.
  • Help shape and deliver the wider operational strategy with senior leadership.
  • Handle complex queries and ensure they’re resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Build strong relationships with underwriters, clients, and offshore colleagues.
  • Maintain high service standards by encouraging clear communication and teamwork.
  • Monitor team performance, resolve issues, and seek ways to improve results.
About You

You’ll bring proven experience leading teams in Credit Control, Claims, Finance, or Risk. You know how to build and maintain strong working relationships—whether with your team, clients, or key business partners.

Skills you'll need:
  • Understanding of insurance and reinsurance classes, ideally with knowledge of bureau-/non bureau London Market credit control.
  • Good knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements (FCA/Lloyd’s regulation) and London Market practices.
  • Experience in underwriting administration processes (London Market and Commercial Insurance).
  • Knowledge of Bureau/Non Bureau London Market Insurance Credit Control.
