Job summary

Mayflower Community Academy in Plymouth is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our Targeted Provision: A Village of Creativity. This role focuses on nurturing the whole child through hands-on, creative learning experiences, including outdoor exploration and nature-based sessions with a village of creativity approach.

The TA will support teaching and learning across mainstream classes, build strong relationships with pupils and families, and collaborate with Community, SENDCos and Leadership

Qualifications

• TA experience or interest in developing in this role (or equivalent experience and qualifications)
• Passion for creativity, inclusion, and alternative education approaches
• Ability to thrive in a flexible, child-centered environment and build positive relationships

Responsibilities

• Manage group sessions focused on nature-based learning, gardening, and outdoor exploration.
• Work alongside teachers and TAs in mainstream classes when relevant and necessary
• Support inclusive, creative activities such as community art, music, and local service projects.
• Foster strong relationships with pupils, families, and the wider community.
• Champion the principles of permaculture and holistic education.
• Support teaching and learning in class and become part of the whole school team approach to teaching and learning.
