Job summary

Mayflower Community Academy in Plymouth is seeking a caring Teaching Assistant to join our Targeted Provision: A Village of Creativity. The role focuses on hands-on, creative learning in nature and community projects, supporting pupils across mainstream classes.

You will work with teachers, SENDCos and leaders to design and deliver nature-based activities, art, music and permaculture-inspired learning, helping every child feel valued, safe, and included.

Qualifications

• TA experience or willingness to develop in this role (arts, performing arts, permaculture, outdoor learning).
• Passion for creativity, inclusion, and alternative education approaches.
• Thrives in a flexible, dynamic, child-centered environment with a family-like culture.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff to create meaningful experiences.
• Work with Community, SENDCos and Leadership Team to co-lead in Village of Creativity curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Manage group sessions focused on nature-based learning, gardening, and outdoor exploration.
• Support mainstream classes with teachers and TAs when needed.
• Support inclusive, creative activities such as community art, music, and local service projects.
• Foster strong relationships with pupils, families and the wider community.
• Champion permaculture and holistic education.
• Be part of the school team approach to teaching and learning.
