Job description

Connecting Creative Minds, Arts & Creative Opportunities and Jobs

A London based Art Studio is looking for an experienced Creative Director to work closely with the artist and lead the creative development and execution of her artistic practice and wider creative ventures. The role is highly multidisciplinary, spanning artwork, design, film, exhibitions, publications, products, events and visual identity. Working closely with the Artist, they will develop ideas and translate her artistic vision into fully realised creative projects, from initial concept through to final execution.

This is a senior, hands-on position requiring someone who can move comfortably between big-picture creative thinking and the smallest details of execution, while managing and leading both the creative and production teams across multiple projects. A particularly important part of the role is bringing structure, clarity and organisation to a highly intuitive and free-flowing creative environment. They will translate evolving ideas into clear direction, priorities and processes, creating the structure needed to move projects forward while preserving the spontaneity of the creative process.

Key Responsibilities

Creative Leadership & Vision
  • Develop and shape the artist’s ideas from initial concept through to final execution, combining strong creative judgement and visual thinking with exceptional attention to detail and high standards of quality.
  • Lead a broad range of multidisciplinary projects across artwork, exhibitions, immersive experiences, film, publications, visual identities, events, merchandise, editions and products.
  • Strong drawing and sketching skills, with the ability to communicate ideas, concepts and details clearly through visual sketches.
  • Work confidently across 2D and 3D, including graphic, spatial, physical and moving-image projects.
  • Oversee the development of physical objects and products, including sculpture, furniture, jewellery, homewares, editions, prints and merchandise.
  • Oversee visual communication across website, digital, social media, marketing and public-facing materials.
  • Develop and maintain a coherent visual identity across the Artist’s practice while allowing individual projects to have their own character.
  • Support film and moving-image development through visual research, mood boards, storyboarding, visual experiments and other pre-production work when required.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Manage team responsibilities, workloads and performance, ensuring clear expectations, effective delegation and ongoing development.
  • Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams of permanent staff and freelancers, providing creative direction, feedback and support in the studio.
  • Act and manage as the key creative link between the artist, the creative team and production teams, translating ideas into clear briefs, direction and priorities.
  • Coordinate, oversee and communicate with external designers, fabricators, manufacturers and other specialists, ensuring creative requirements are understood and effectively realised.
Organisation & Structure
  • Bring exceptional organisation and structure to a fast-moving, intuitive creative environment, turning evolving ideas and conversations into clear briefs, priorities and workflows.
  • Maintain highly organised file structures, archives and project systems, ensuring information, references and creative assets are easy to find, manage and revisit.
Project Management & Problem Solving
  • Manage multiple projects across different disciplines and stages, from creative development through production and final delivery, keeping priorities, timelines and deliverables on track.
  • Anticipate challenges and identify what is needed next, finding practical and creative solutions to keep projects moving.
  • Be proactive, adaptable and calm under pressure, particularly when priorities shift or deadlines are tight.
Production & Realisation
  • Oversee the transition from creative development into production, working closely with fabricators, manufacturers, printers, suppliers and production teams to bring ideas to life.
  • Have a strong understanding of materials, fabrication methods, technical requirements and production constraints, and be able to communicate effectively with production partners when needed.
  • Balance creative ambition with practical, technical and budgetary considerations, while maintaining creative intent, quality and attention to detail through to final delivery.
Resources & Team Development
  • Manage project resources, timelines, quotes and budgets.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and development of creative team members and freelancers.
  • Coordinate freelance and external resources according to project requirements.
  • Contribute to building an effective and well-structured creative team as the studio grows.
