Job summary

Preston City Council is seeking a creative Communications and Marketing Assistant to join its busy Corporate Communications team. You will produce compelling content across print and digital channels, write press releases, social posts, blogs and features, and help promote council services to residents and partners.

The role emphasizes collaboration, timely delivery and attention to detail, with experience in Canva and CapCut advantageous.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a communications or marketing environment.
• Strong writing, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Experience of delivering campaigns and creating engaging digital content.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Experience of using Canva and CapCut.
• A positive, collaborative approach and a commitment to equality, inclusion and continuous improvement.
• Experience of media relations, working with partners and stakeholders, or knowledge of local government and public services would be an advantage.
• Applicants should have at least five GCSEs, including English and Maths.

Responsibilities

• Write press releases, social media content, blogs, case studies and features.
• Respond to media and public enquiries, attend events and create photos and videos.
• Support communications and marketing campaigns across the Council.
• Promote vital council services and share positive stories about Preston.
