Job summary

Bob and Berts Wakefield is seeking a passionate Chef to lead our kitchen, creating high-quality, delicious, and consistent food for our guests. You will develop seasonal menus, manage daily prep, maintain excellent food safety standards, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

This part-time 16-hour contract includes weekends and early mornings. The ideal candidate will work quickly, be team-focused, and bring creativity with fresh, local ingredients to delight the local community.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a chef or cook in a café, bistro, or fast-paced kitchen.
• Ability to create menus, manage costs, and work with seasonal produce.
• Ability to work quickly and cleanly under pressure.
• Leadership and ability to train junior staff or volunteers.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Menu & Creativity: Develop and execute fresh, seasonal cafe menus for breakfast and lunch.
• Food Preparation: Prepare and cook menu items to high quality standards.
• Consistency & Presentation: Ensure dishes are prepared to spec and presented well.
• Stock & Ordering: Monitor stock, manage inventory, place orders, minimize wastage.
• Hygiene & Safety: Maintain a clean kitchen and adhere to food safety regs.
• Teamwork & Operations: Collaborate with front-of-house staff for smooth service.
