Job summary

Bob and Bert's Carlisle is seeking a passionate and skilled Chef to lead our kitchen, creating high-quality, delicious, and consistent food for guests. You will develop seasonal menus, manage daily prep, and uphold food safety standards in a fast-paced cafe environment.

This part-time role offers weekend/early shift coverage with finishes by 6:30pm, and opportunities to grow with the team in a friendly setting.

Qualifications

• Experience as a chef or cook in a cafe, bistro, or fast-paced kitchen.
• Ability to create menus, manage costs, and work with seasonal produce.
• Ability to work quickly and cleanly under pressure.
• Food Hygiene Certificate preferred.
• Leadership to train and motivate junior staff or volunteers.
• Passion for food and team-oriented attitude. Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute creative, fresh, and seasonal cafe menus, including breakfast and lunch.
• Prepare and cook menu items to high quality standards.
• Ensure dishes are prepared to spec and presented aesthetically to enhance customer experience.
• Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and place orders with suppliers while minimising wastage.
• Maintain a spotless kitchen workspace and adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service and handle special requests.
