Job Description:

  • Conduct inspections and service on various models of overhead cranes/lifting devices
  • Perform extensive on-site electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting
  • Perform on-site repairs on overhead traveling cranes in conjunction with planned repairs
  • Maintain a basic understanding and working knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, CMAA, and other relevant codes and regulations
  • Travel by vehicle to job sites to install, remove, and inspect cranes and hoists to ensure proper operation
  • Read and interpret drawings and blueprints
  • Work at heights on large steel structures
  • Operate forklifts, elevated work platforms, and other heavy equipment
  • Maneuver and position large pieces of steel
  • Be available "on call" for service and provide after-hours support as required
  • Maintain regular communication with the service office
  • Collaborate with the service manager or general manager to ensure accurate and timely paperwork and quotes
  • Follow all safety rules and procedures, including those of the customer
  • Keep company vehicle and uniforms clean and presentable
  • Be accountable for all company-issued tools, ladders, and inventory assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or related field, or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience
  • Minimum two (2) years experience working on and/or installing overhead cranes
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair
  • Ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver's license in good standing

Working Conditions:

This role requires the ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs and up to 50 lbs daily, with occasional lifts up to 75 lbs and rare lifts up to 100 lbs. It involves frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, and overhead reaching. Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling are also required. The position is mostly indoors (about 90%) with some outdoor work (about 10%), and exposure to heat, cold, noise, and heights.

Additional Notes:

Maintenance mechanics/millwrights with strong electrical and mechanical skills or technicians from an industrial environment are highly encouraged to apply.
