Job summary

Jackson Hogg Limited is seeking a Service Manager to lead a busy, safety-critical engineering operation in the Tees Valley area. The role involves technical and commercial decision-making, working with engineers, customers and suppliers to keep sites serviced and compliant.

You will be responsible for planning crane and lifting gear work, coordinating inspections and repairs, and turning inspection findings into timely quotations while driving continuous improvement across processes.

Qualifications

• Strong electrical understanding of cranes.
• Experience with lifting equipment and hoisting gear.
• Ability to liaise with engineers, customers, suppliers and office staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan and prioritise crane, hoist, lifting gear and site service work.
• Coordinate engineer workloads across inspections, repairs, breakdowns, testing and visits.
• Ensure jobs have scope, site details, contacts, RAMS and job cards before engineers attend.
• Review engineer findings from service reports and LOER inspections.
• Interpret defects on cranes, hoists, lifting gear, slings, shackles and related equipment.
• Convert repair sheets and inspection findings into clear repair quotations.
• Request prices from suppliers for OEM and specialist parts.

Jackson Hogg are supporting our client with with the appointment of a Service Manager to join them on a permanent basis. This is a key role in a busy, safety-critical engineering business.

This role would suit someone who understands lifting equipment, can make practical decisions quickly and is comfortable dealing with engineers, customers, suppliers and office staff throughout the day. It is essential you have a strong electrical understanding of cranes.

This isn't just a behind-the-desk role - you will be involved in technical decisions, commercial decisions and operational problem-solving!

Job Description
