Are you a confident and adaptable teacher looking for a varied role within a welcoming secondary school? A well-established secondary school in the L5 area is seeking to appoint a dedicated Cover Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working across a range of subjects, building positive relationships with pupils and supporting high-quality learning throughout the school. Whether you're an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT), this role offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a supportive school environment.
As a Secondary School Cover Teacher, you will deliver pre-planned lessons across a range of subject areas, ensuring pupils remain engaged and on task in the absence of their usual class teacher. You will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment, manage behaviour effectively and maintain high expectations for learning. You will monitor pupil engagement, provide feedback to teaching staff and work closely with colleagues to support the smooth day-to-day running of the school. You will play an important role in maintaining continuity of learning while promoting safeguarding, wellbeing and positive behaviour throughout the school.
We're looking for a teacher who holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification and has experience working within a secondary school environment. You should be confident delivering lessons across different subjects, demonstrate excellent classroom management skills and be able to adapt quickly to new situations. Strong communication skills, flexibility and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff are essential.
