Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools in Diss and surrounding areas on a daily supply basis. You’ll supervise classes when teachers are absent, deliver pre-prepared lessons, and help maintain a calm, productive learning environment across different sites.

Ideal candidates will have experience with secondary pupils, strong communication skills, and the ability to adapt to varied school settings.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils in a school or youth setting.
  • Confident in managing classroom behaviour and engaging learners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to work across a range of subjects.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure pupils remain on task
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and classroom activity
  • Support the wider school community and uphold safeguarding standards
  • Adapt quickly to different school environments and expectations

Job description

These flexible opportunities are ideal for Cover Supervisors who enjoy variety and want to make a positive impact across different school settings. You’ll be working on a daily supply basis in Diss and the surrounding areas, supporting secondary schools with short-term cover needs.

Duties as Cover Supervisor:
  • Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring a calm and productive learning environment
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure pupils remain on task
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and classroom activity
  • Support the wider school community and uphold safeguarding standards
  • Adapt quickly to different school environments and expectations
Ideal Cover Supervisor:
  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils in a school or youth setting
  • Confident in managing classroom behaviour and engaging learners
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible, reliable, and able to work across a range of subjects
  • A degree or relevant qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
