Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a confident Cover Supervisor for a mainstream Secondary School in Stoke. The role is long-term with flexible day-to-day work, starting October 2026, paying £110-£150 per day under PAYE.

You will maintain high standards of behaviour, deliver pre-planned lessons across secondary subjects, and take firm control of challenging classes while following the school’s policy consistently. Strong classroom management is essential.

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a mainstream Secondary School based in Stoke. The school maintains high expectations for behaviour and learning and requires staff who can confidently uphold its standards and contribute to a structured classroom environment.

The school is looking for a strong and assertive Cover Supervisor for long-term placements, with flexible day-to-day work also available. The successful Cover Supervisor must be able to take firm control of the classroom, confidently challenge poor behaviour, follow the school s behaviour and discipline policy consistently and ensure students complete the pre-planned work provided.

The successful Cover Supervisor will have:

• Previous experience working with young people, ideally within a secondary school setting
• Excellent classroom management skills and the confidence to take control of challenging classes
• Proven ability to manage misbehaviour firmly, calmly and consistently
• Confidence implementing and following school behaviour and discipline policies
• The resilience and strength of character required to maintain clear boundaries and high expectations
• Confidence delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects
