Luma Education Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced **Cover Supervisor - SEN English** to join a supportive and welcoming specialist SEND school in Silverstone, Northamptonshire.

Set within a beautiful rural location, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced **Cover Supervisor, English Tutor, HLTA or Teaching Assistant** who is confident supporting and delivering English to pupils with additional needs.

The role would suit someone looking for a long-term position within a small specialist school, where staff work closely together and pupils benefit from a high level of individual support.

The position is initially offered as **maternity cover**, with potential for a **temp-to-perm opportunity** following the maternity contract, subject to suitability and the school's requirements.

The Role

As a **Cover Supervisor - SEN English**, you will support and deliver engaging English lessons and learning activities, working closely with experienced teachers and support staff.

You will be responsible for supervising classes and delivering planned learning, while adapting your approach to meet the individual needs of pupils.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Delivering and supervising planned English lessons and learning activities
• Supporting pupils with reading, writing, spelling, grammar and communication
• Supporting individuals and small groups with their English development
• Adapting resources and activities to meet individual SEND needs
• Supporting pupils working towards Functional Skills and wider English qualifications where appropriate
• Managing the classroom and maintaining a calm, positive learning environment
• Working closely with teachers and support staff
• Supporting pupils with their EHCP outcomes and individual learning targets
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• Encouraging confidence, independence and engagement
• Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback
• Supporting positive behaviour and engagement
• Working collaboratively as part of the wider school team

About You

The school is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic **Cover Supervisor with a strong English background**.

You may currently be working as a:

• Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
• Experienced Teaching Assistant
• English-focused education professional

You will ideally have:

• Strong English subject knowledge
• Experience supporting or delivering English lessons
• Previous experience working with children or young people
• Confidence managing a classroom and supervising learning
• Experience working with SEND / SEN / SEMH pupils is highly desirable
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach
• Strong communication and classroom management skills
• The ability to adapt learning for different abilities and needs
• A genuine interest in supporting pupils' academic and personal development
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
