Job summary

TeacherActive Limited. is seeking a confident Cover Supervisor in Merthyr Tydfil to support teaching staff from November 2026. This full-time temporary post runs until February half term 2027 and pays £110 per day.

You will supervise KS3/KS4 classes, deliver pre-planned work, and help maintain a positive learning environment. The role requires prior experience in secondary schools, strong behaviour management, and the ability to adapt to different subjects and year groups while following lesson

Qualifications

• Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school (essential).
• Excellent behaviour management and classroom supervision skills.
• The confidence to work across different subjects and year groups.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• A professional, reliable and adaptable approach.
• The ability to follow lesson plans and keep pupils focused on their learning.

Responsibilities

• Supervising secondary school classes during teacher absences.

Contract: Full-Time, Temporary - Until February Half Term 2027
Salary: £110 per day

TeacherActive is delighted to be working alongside a secondary school in Merthyr Tydfil who are seeking a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to support their teaching team from November 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Cover Supervisor looking to secure a consistent, full-time placement until February half term initially.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play an important role in ensuring pupils continue their learning when their usual classroom teacher is absent. You will be responsible for supervising classes across KS3 and KS4, delivering work that has already been planned and prepared by teaching staff.

The school is looking for someone who can quickly establish positive relationships with pupils, maintain clear classroom expectations and confidently manage a variety of classes throughout the school day.

The successful Cover Supervisor will need:

• Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor in a secondary school (essential)
