Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Cover Supervisor to work in secondary schools in Bridgwater and Taunton from September, delivering pre-planned lessons when the class teacher is absent. You will manage student behaviour and keep learners engaged, drawing on experience as a Teaching Assistant or Sports Coach to support classroom progression.

The role offers full training and ongoing CPD, with market-leading pay rates and a supportive consultant team ready to assist through onboarding and placement

TeacherActive is proud to be working with supportive secondary schools in Bridgwater and Taunton who are looking to appoint confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors. The schools offer positive learning environments where staff are supported to develop their classroom experience, build strong relationships with students and progress within education.

The schools are looking for Cover Supervisors to work on a full-time basis from September, delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher, managing classroom behaviour and keeping students engaged with their learning. This Cover Supervisor role is an excellent stepping stone for Teaching Assistants, Sports Coaches, aspiring teachers and overseas-trained teachers, with full training provided for candidates ready to progress into classroom-based work.

The successful Cover Supervisor will have:

• Previous experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally as a Teaching Assistant, Sports Coach or within another educational setting
• Confidence working with groups of young people and leading classroom activities
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and school staff
• A proactive, adaptable approach and genuine enthusiasm for progressing within education
