Envision Education is seeking a confident Cover Supervisor for an immediate start in Enfield. This fully classroom-based temporary role requires experience in UK schools and the ability to supervise classes when teachers are absent, delivering pre-set work and maintaining engagement throughout the day.

The ideal candidate will have strong behaviour management, communication and a calm, professional approach, with DBS on Update Service preferred or willing to apply for one.

Are you an experienced Cover Supervisor, HLTA or experienced school-based education professional looking for your next opportunity?

We are currently working with a welcoming and inclusive school in Enfield that is looking for a confident, reliable and experienced Cover Supervisor to join their team on a temporary basis.

This is a fully classroom-based role and is suited to someone who already has experience working in a UK school and is confident taking responsibility for classes in the absence of the usual teacher.

You will be expected to supervise lessons, deliver pre-set work, manage behaviour effectively and ensure pupils remain safe, focused and engaged throughout the school day.

Please note - essential experience

This role is not suitable for candidates without previous UK school experience.

Applicants must have either:

• Previous, referenceable experience working as a Cover Supervisor, HLTA or in a similar classroom-based role within a UK school; or

• An HLTA qualification alongside relevant, recent experience working with pupils in a school setting.

A school-based reference must be available to verify your relevant experience.

Candidates whose experience is solely from outside of education, such as childcare, tutoring, youth work or general employment, will not meet the essential requirements for this position unless they also have relevant UK school-based experience.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will:

• Supervise classes across the school during teacher absences.

• Deliver pre-set work and ensure pupils remain focused and on task.

• Maintain clear classroom expectations and manage behaviour confidently.

• Establish positive and professional relationships with pupils.

• Support pupils with their learning and encourage participation.

• Work with pupils with a range of SEND needs, including Autism, ADHD and SEMH.

• Respond calmly, consistently and confidently to behaviour challenges.

• Follow lesson plans and school procedures accurately.

• Work closely with teachers, TAs and the wider school team.

• Support break and lunchtime supervision.

• Help maintain a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Recent, relevant experience working in a UK school - essential.

• Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, HLTA, Teaching Assistant or in another classroom-based school role.

• Confident classroom and behaviour management skills.

• The ability to establish clear boundaries and maintain high expectations.

• A calm, consistent and positive approach to behaviour management.

• The confidence to take responsibility for a class without the usual teacher present.

• The ability to follow lesson plans and deliver pre-set work effectively.

• An understanding of SEND and inclusive classroom practice.

• Experience supporting pupils with Autism, ADHD and/or SEMH is desirable.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• A reliable, professional and team-focused approach.

• A genuine commitment to supporting pupils' wellbeing, engagement and progress.

• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
