Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting Cover Supervisors to support Bridgwater and Taunton secondary schools. You will deliver pre-planned lessons when teachers are absent, manage behaviour, and keep students engaged with their learning.

Ideal candidates include Teaching Assistants, Sports Coaches or overseas-trained teachers seeking UK classroom experience, with full training provided to progress into classroom-based roles.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with secondary-aged students, ideally as a Teaching Assistant, Sports Coach or within another educational setting.
• Confidence leading classroom activities with groups of young people.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and school staff.
• Proactive, adaptable approach and enthusiasm for progressing within education.

Responsibilities

• Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
• Manage classroom behaviour and keep students engaged with learning.
• Support teachers in maintaining a positive learning environment.
