Job summary

Monarch Education is seeking a confident Cover Supervisor to support a welcoming secondary school in the Bolton/Manchester area. Aimed at maintaining learning continuity during teacher absences, you will supervise classes across subjects and deliver pre-prepared materials.

The role offers full-time, part-time, supply, or long-term opportunities with a daily rate of £92-£115, and opportunities to contribute to a positive learning environment for pupils.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising and managing groups of students in a secondary school setting.
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to maintain a calm, focused learning environment.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills, with confidence liaising with students and staff.
• Ability to follow school policies, procedures and lesson plans provided by teaching staff.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) and the right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged and focused on the work set.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials across a range of subjects, maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies, promoting high standards of conduct and respectful learning.
• Support students with their learning where appropriate, answering questions and encouraging participation to maximise engagement and progress.
• Work closely with teachers, Heads of Department, and pastoral staff to provide feedback on student performance, behaviour, and lesson outcomes.
• Monitor attendance, record classroom incidents where necessary, and contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the school while fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all pupils.
