Job summary

Monarch Education is seeking confident and adaptable Cover Supervisors to support a thriving Secondary School in Faringdon. This role offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, with weekly pay and the chance to gain valuable classroom experience.

You will supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4, deliver pre-prepared materials, and help maintain a positive learning environment while following school policies and safeguarding guidelines. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school environment (secondary preferred).
• Ability to lead a classroom independently.
• Enhanced DBS certificate (Update Service) or willingness to obtain one.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Supervising students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of teaching staff.
• Delivering pre-set lesson plans and ensuring learning objectives are achieved.
• Managing classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
• Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Encouraging student participation and keeping pupils focused on their work.
• Recording attendance and reporting safeguarding concerns.
• Providing handover notes to teaching staff after lessons.

Cover Supervisor - Secondary School | Faringdon

Monarch Education is currently seeking confident, adaptable, and enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work within a supportive and thriving Secondary School in Faringdon. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, allowing you to work around your availability while gaining valuable experience in education.

This role is ideal for individuals who have previous experience working within a school setting and are comfortable leading a classroom, managing behaviour, and ensuring students remain engaged in their learning during the absence of their regular teacher.

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning. You will be responsible for supervising classes across a range of subjects, delivering pre-prepared lesson materials, and creating a positive and productive learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervising students across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of teaching staff.
• Delivering pre-set lesson plans and ensuring learning objectives are achieved.
• Managing classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
• Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
• Encouraging student participation and keeping pupils focused on their work.
• Supporting students with questions relating to the lesson tasks provided.
• Recording attendance and reporting any behavioural or safeguarding concerns.
• Providing detailed handover notes to teaching staff following lessons.
• Upholding safeguarding procedures and promoting student welfare at all times.
• Supporting wider school activities and duties where required.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, candidates must:

• Have previous experience working within a school environment (secondary school experience preferred).
• Be confident leading a classroom of students independently.
• Possess strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• Have a genuine passion for supporting young people and education.
• Hold an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one through Monarch Education.
• Be able to provide professional references covering the last two years of employment, education, or training history.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
