Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting an experienced Cover Supervisor for a mainstream secondary school in Birmingham. You will supervise classes across the secondary age range, deliver pre-planned work and confidently manage classroom behaviour, using IT to support lesson delivery and keep students engaged.

The ideal candidate will have proven behaviour management skills, strong IT abilities with school systems and interactive whiteboards, and a flexible, reliable approach to adapting to day‑to‑day

Job description

Are you an experienced Cover Supervisor with strong classroom and behaviour management skills?

Do you have excellent IT skills and the confidence to use technology effectively in a secondary school classroom?

Are you adaptable, reliable and able to confidently manage challenging behaviour while keeping students engaged with their learning?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a mainstream Secondary School based in Birmingham. The school provides a supportive learning environment with a focus on maintaining high expectations, promoting positive behaviour and encouraging students to engage with their education.

The school is looking for an experienced Cover Supervisor for long-term placements, with flexible day-to-day work also available. The successful Cover Supervisor will supervise classes across the secondary age range, deliver pre-planned work, confidently manage classroom behaviour and use their strong IT skills to support lesson delivery and ensure students remain focused and engaged.

The successful Cover Supervisor will have:

• Previous experience working as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar classroom-based role within a secondary school
• Proven experience managing classroom behaviour effectively and maintaining a positive learning environment
• Strong IT skills, including confidence using school systems, interactive whiteboards and digital learning resources
• Confidence delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of secondary subjects
• Excellent classroom management, communication and organisational skills
• A flexible, reliable and proactive approach, with the ability to manage challenging situations confidently
