Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a confident and engaging Cover Supervisor to join a secondary school in Grays, to keep lessons moving and pupils focused throughout the day.

You’ll supervise classes when their usual teacher is unavailable, deliver pre-prepared lessons, set clear expectations and support pupils with their work, helping maintain a calm, productive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience as Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, LSA or Learning Mentor is considered a plus.
• Ability to build positive relationships with secondary pupils.
• A proactive and engaging approach to keeping pupils on task.

• Taking responsibility for classes across different subjects and year groups
• Delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring pupils remain engaged
• Setting clear expectations and maintaining a calm classroom

Full-Time Secondary School Long-Term Opportunity

Tradewind Recruitment are looking for a confident and engaging Cover Supervisor to join a secondary school in Grays, helping keep lessons moving, pupils focused and the school day running smoothly.

Your role is to provide the structure, confidence and consistency that allows pupils to get on with their work.

And every day will be different.

One lesson might be English. The next could be Science. Then Maths, History or PE. Different classrooms, different pupils, different challenges - but the same goal: keep learning on track.

What will your day look like?

You’ll be responsible for supervising classes when their usual teacher is unavailable, helping pupils understand the work they've been given and creating an environment where they can get on with it.

You’ll be:

• Taking responsibility for classes across different subjects and year groups

• Delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring pupils remain engaged

• Setting clear expectations and maintaining a calm classroom

• Managing behaviour confidently, fairly and consistently

• Supporting pupils with their work where appropriate

Who are we looking for?

You don't necessarily need to be a qualified teacher.

You might be an experienced Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, LSA or Learning Mentor. You could have experience working with young people outside education. Or perhaps you're considering teaching and want to experience life in a secondary school before taking your next step.
