Job summary

Great Park Academy in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking an enthusiastic candidate to supervise classes in the absence of the class teacher. You will support a range of subjects across the school site, help implement work programmes and assist students in a variety of activities, ensuring adherence to policies and safeguarding procedures.

You will deliver learning activities to pupils in different settings, provide feedback to learners and colleagues, and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning

  • Working knowledge of relevant policies and awareness of legislation.
  • Knowledge of national/foundation stage curriculum.

  • Good understanding of child development and learning, especially with SEN and EAL students.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise classes during the absence of the class teacher.
  • Support a variety of subjects across the school site.
  • Assist the Pastoral Team and implement work programmes.
  • Manage student behaviour and assist with activities in line with policies.
  • Deliver learning activities to pupils in different classroom settings (individuals, small groups, whole classes).
  • Provide feedback to pupils and colleagues on learning and behaviour.
  • Communicate effectively and sensitively with pupils to support learning and promote inclusion.

Job description

Your Role

The successful candidate will be required to supervise classes during the absence of the class teacher. They will support a variety of subjects across the school site. This will include supporting the work of the Pastoral Team, implementing work programmes, managing student behaviour and assisting students in relevant activities in line with the school's and Multi Academy Trust's policies and procedures. They will deliver learning activities to pupils in a range of classroom settings, including working with individuals, small groups and whole classes, providing feedback to pupils and colleagues on learning and behaviour. They will be aware of national frameworks, typical curricula and teaching methods and expectations in the relevant key stages and they will use behaviour management strategies which contribute to a purposeful learning environment. They will communicate effectively and sensitively with pupils to support their learning, promoting inclusion and acceptance of all pupils in the classroom.
