Job summary

Horizon School in Lowestoft is seeking a Cover Supervisor to supervise the completion of work set for students by the class teacher during absences and to develop an effective system for organising and delivering the work, with feedback to staff on progress.

You may also support students in lessons as a Lead Learning Support Assistant, complete interventions and assessments, and undertake administrative tasks to support teaching and learning, joining the on-call system.

Responsibilities

• To deliver the Horizon School curriculum (provided by teachers), which engages and ensures all students can make progress in line with expectations in all subjects.
• To monitor, assess and respond to individual student progress and attainment.
• To develop an effective system to ensure that all work and plans are organised and collated and communicated to staff at the end of each day.
• To maintain high expectations of behaviour and safety in line with the school’s policies, such as the Behaviour and Relationships Policy and Safeguarding Policy.
• To maintain professional standards which support the school’s vision both within the whole School and the wider community.
• Generic duties relevant to all teachers.

Horizon School are seeking a Cover Supervisor.

You will supervise the completion of work set for students by the class teacher during periods of absence and develop an effective system of organising the work to be delivered to each class and collating and feeding back the work completed. You will complete this role to a high level ensuring high expectations of students in terms of learning and behaviour, whilst developing positive relationships with students.

Where covering lessons on a day is not required you may be expected to support students in lessons as a Lead Learning Support Assistant/complete one to one interventions and assessments with students/complete administrative tasks to support teaching and learning and be part of the on-call system.
