Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Gateshead is seeking a confident Cover Supervisor to deliver high-quality lessons across multiple schools. You will establish positive relationships with pupils and staff, maintain continuity of learning and manage varied classroom environments.

The role covers short- and long-term placements with daily and termly opportunities. You will follow pre-planned schemes, adapt to different year groups, and uphold safeguarding and school policies while providing clear feedback.

Responsibilities

• Maintain effective classroom management and promote positive behaviour.
• Assess pupil understanding and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Work with teaching assistants and school staff to support pupil progress.
• Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies.
• Provide clear handover notes on pupil progress and outcomes.

Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full time

Confident and reliable Cover Supervisor with experience delivering high-quality teaching on various assignments across a number of schools in and around Gateshead. Skilled in quickly establishing positive relationships with pupils and staff, maintaining continuity of learning, and creating an engaging classroom environment. The role could include both short and long term opportunities, including day to day and termly appointments. Experienced in delivering high quality, engaging lessons, managing classroom behaviour effectively, and ensuring pupils remain motivated and supported throughout temporary placements. Committed to maintaining high educational standards while adapting to the individual needs of each school and class.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging pre planned lessons in line with the National Curriculum and school expectations.
• Follow lesson plans and ensure continuity of learning during staff absence.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities, including SEND and EAL learners.
• Maintain effective classroom management and promote positive behaviour.
• Assess pupil understanding and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and school staff to support pupil progress.
• Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.
• Provide clear handover notes on pupil progress and lesson outcomes.

• Can build strong, positive relationships with children.

Working Hours

Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
