Job summary

Oakfield Academy in Frome is seeking a Cover Manager/Pastoral Support Mentor to coordinate daily cover and support pupil education. The role requires arranging cover quickly, supervising classes, and assisting with pupil questions and behaviour.

You will also work as a Pastoral Support Mentor, using ELSA strategies to raise motivation and re-engagement. A permanent, full-time contract is offered, 7:30am–4:00pm, 37 hours/week, term-time plus INSET days.

Qualifications

• Experience arranging cover and understanding timetables.
• Ability to supervise classes and provide pupil support.
• Experience using ELSA strategies to support pupils.
• Good IT skills and ability to use school systems.

Responsibilities

• Organise lessons for absent teachers to ensure consistent cover throughout the day.
• Supervise a class of up to 30 pupils or provide individual/group work set by the teacher.
• Support pupils' education provision as a Pastoral Support Mentor and address behaviour in line with academy policies.
