About the college:

Strathmore college is an SEN college for students aged 16 to 25. What makes us different is that each of our learners work on a completely individual programme which is specifically structured to support them into employment and to gain an increased level of independence as they prepare for adulthood. Good links with employers enables learners to develop skills in the workplace to support their transition.

The Strathmore College building itself acts as a central hub from which a vast range of community‑based learning takes place. Community‑based learning is central to our ethos, with learners engaging in a lot of practical, hands‑on activities and work‑based learning.

About the role:

We’re looking for someone who is HCPC registered with a well‑rounded skill set who brings both experience and a genuine passion for supporting others. In this role, you’ll feel right at home if you have a strong understanding of:

  • Providing a psychology service to support students with complex needs
  • Identifying and delivering appropriate tailored therapy and interventions to promote and develop students’ mental, emotional, physical, and social wellbeing
  • Liaising with families and carers to support student progress and help them achieve their outcomes
  • Carrying out home visits and building positive, supportive relationships with families
  • Welcoming new starters through thoughtful and thorough assessments
  • Delivering engaging, subject‑specific training to help colleagues thrive
  • Managing EHCPs and contributing to meaningful, person‑centred annual reviews
  • Working collaboratively with mental health professionals to support individual needs

These areas are at the heart of what we do, so confidence and enthusiasm in these responsibilities will really help you shine in this role, along with the following characteristics:

  • Resilience – We support some of the most vulnerable children in society who have varying degrees of emotional behavioural difficulties, autism, ADHD and associated difficulties so there will be times where your resilience is challenged.
  • Communication – Communicating with our young people is vital to understand their needs. Positive working relationships, good teamwork and communication plays a key part in ensuring important information is relayed to other staff.
  • Committed – will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated support staff, committed to delivering the very best care.
  • Caring – Our young people require the best care we can offer. If you are a naturally caring and compassionate person, this is the role for you.

As part of Aspris Children’s Services, we are immensely proud of the career pathway and training we can offer you. We ask that you can demonstrate the values needed for a role, transferable skills and life experience and in return we will give you all the training and support you need to progress.

If you want to progress your career, Aspris will help you get there.

Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with Disclosure & Barring Service and at least 2 references which cover the last 3 years; for all our services we will request references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults.
