Job Title: Costs Negotiator

Location: Onsite at our Insurance office in Manchester City Centre

As a Costs Negotiator in our in-house costs team, you will be responsible for managing your own fixed recoverable costs (and disputed disbursements on MOJ or Infant Approval) cases. Caseloads will be allocated based on business needs. Your role involves the accurate maintenance of systems and management information to support business decision-making.

This role is with Keoghs and offers an excellent opportunity for client interaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze costs claimed and prepare cost strategy reports
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses; document findings
  • Prepare points of dispute and consider replies
  • Negotiate costs within settlement parameters
  • Handle correspondence and telephone communications
  • Conduct periodic reviews of files per client requirements
  • Instruct Counsel or Costs Lawyers for Detailed Assessments or conduct own advocacy
  • Meet performance targets
  • Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations
  • Adhere to Keoghs Values
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Experience in a similar costs negotiator role (claimant or defendant)
  • Previous client liaison experience
  • Minimum educational requirements: 3 GCSEs grade C or above, including Maths and English
  • Experience managing own caseload
  • Understanding of Detailed Assessment processes, Cost Case Laws, and Insurance Litigation
  • Experience preparing Points of Dispute and replies
  • Initiative, planning, prioritization skills
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
  • Decision-making ability
  • Calmness under pressure
  • Teamwork skills
